I was so blessed to photograph many rare bird for the Los Angeles area, such as a Orchard Oriole, Scott's Oriole, Tropical Kingbird, Red-throated Loon, White-throated Sparrow, Williamson's Sapsucker, Ross's Goose, Cackling Goose, Blue-footed Booby, Summer Tanager and a Eurasian Wigeon. It was an exciting time!

A Blue-footed Booby in flight. This Blue-footed Booby was photographed in Playa Del Rey in October 2013. The Blue-footed Booby is native to the warmer waters of Mexico and can be found along coasts as south as Peru. But these birds have recently been spotted in small flocks along the coast of central and southern California. This is the first time these birds have been spotted in Los Angeles County since 2007 and thus there are considered rare birds for the area. When I went to Playa Del Rey to photograph the birds, there were actually four Blue-footed Boobies.
