Capturing the Splendor of Nature and Divine Light
Birds of Fall 2019
Welcome to my visual diary of the beautiful birds I photographed during the Autumn months. This season, I photographed a dozen female Pin-tailed Whydahs, which are native to sub-Saharan Africa. During the summer, I was fortunate to have photographed a male Pin-tailed Whydah, living in a different city, located more than an hour away from where I photographed the females.

While on my way to work one morning, I noticed this juvenile Cooper's Hawk on the ground and, my first impression was that the hawk was injured. But, I soon discovered that the hawk was playing with a small pine cone and I pulled my camera out to start recording. Unfortunately, a car passed by and frightened the hawk, but I was happy to have witnessed and documented the bird's joy. When the hawk flew away, it dropped the pine cone (which you can hear on the video) and I got out of my car to pick it up so I could keep it as a souvenir.
