Capturing the Splendor of Nature and Divine Light
Birds of Spring 2018
Welcome to my visual diary of the beautiful birds I photographed during the Spring months. I was fortunate to see and photograph an adult Green-tailed Towhee, which was only the second time of sighting this species in eight years. This songbird can be hard to see since it lives in dense, shrubby habitat. But, it was such a treat to see this grayish colored bird since it is decorated with olive-yellow wings, back and tail, the head is strongly marked with a bright rufous crown, a white throat, and a dark “mustache” stripe.

A striking Green-tailed Towhee scratching for food under the leaf litter debris. This bird is uncommon for the Los Angeles area, so it is classified as a "rare bird" sighting.
