Welcome to my visual diary of the beautiful birds I photographed during the summer months. I was so blessed to photograph a new species for me, an Atlantic Canary, which I photographed in my backyard.

The Nutmeg Mannikin is also known as the Scaly-breasted Munia or Spice Finch. This sparrow-sized estrildid finch is native to tropical Asia, but has been introduced into many other parts of the world and feral populations have established in Puerto Rico as well as parts of Australia and the United States. This male Nutmeg Mannikin was photographed at the LA Arboretum.
