Birds of Summer 2013
Welcome to my visual diary of the birds I photographed during the summer months. I must admit that it was a hot summer and slow bird season. I think I photographed more butterflies and insects than birds, which is not typical for me. However, I did enjoy spending several days photographing the Black-chinned Hummingbirds at Descanso Gardens. Now, I am looking forward to the cooler weather and Fall migration!

A female Mandarin Duck. The Mandarin Duck is native to east Asia, but isolated populations exist in the United States as a result of several ducks escaping from captivity, then going on to reproduce in the wild. This Mandarin Duck was photographed in Arcadia, CA.
